(Sura An-Nisaa : 86) And when you are greeted with a greetzing, greet [in return] with one better than it or [at least] return it [in a like manner]. Indeed, Allah is ever, over all things, an Accountant.

📚No one will enter paradise but the believers; loving the believers is part of faith and spreading Salam is a means of attaining that.

📚When two men meet, which of them initiates the Salam is The nearest of them to Allah
5.What Has Been Related About Conveying The Salam – On behalf (Tirmidhi; Sahih # 2693)
📚Narrated Abu Salamah: 'Aishah narrated to him that he Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to her: "Indeeed Jibril has sent Salam to you." She said: "And upon him be peace and the mercy of Allah and His Blessings."
6.The Salam To The Young (Tirmidhi; Sahih # 2696)
📚Prophet conveyed Salam to some boys while passing by.
7.What Has Been Related About The Rider Giving The Salam To The One Walking (Tirmidhi; Hasan # 2705)
📚"The horseman gives Salam to the walking person, the walking person to the one standing and the few to the many."
8.Regarding who should be greeted first (Sunan Abi Dawud; Sahih # 5198)
📚The young should salute the old, the one who is passing by should salute the one who is sitting, and a small company should salute a large one.
9.What Has Been Related About Hand Shaking (Tirmidhi; Sahih # 2729)
📚Narrated Qatadah: that he asked Anas bin Malik: "Did the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) use to shake each other's hand?" He said, "Yes."
10.Regarding when a man parts from another, then meets him again, he should greet him with the salam (Sunan Abi Dawud; Sahih # 5200)
📚When one of you meets his brother, he should salute him, then if he meets him again after a tree, wall or stone has come between them, he should also salute him.
11.Regarding saying the salam when leaving the gathering (Sunan Abi Dawud; Hasan # 5208)
📚When one of you comes to an assembly, he should give a salutation and if he feels inclined to get up, he should give a salutation, for the former is not more of a duty than the latter.
💡Note: Did not find any hadith on saying Allah Hafiz instead; in light of above and other hadiths; the person leaving must say what he has said while coming i.e. As-Salaamu Alaykum or so on because “The best of the guidance is the guidance of Rasool Allah” therefore; since it is proven, one must abide by above hadith (Saying Allah Hafiz can be practiced if proven as Sunnah I.e. upon finding its daleel).
12.How to return the greeting (Al-Adab Al-Mufrad; Hassan Sahih # 1034)
📚Qayla reported that a man said, "Peace be upon you, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." He said, "And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah."
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ: وَقَالَتْ قَيْلَةُ: قَالَ رَجُلٌ: السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: وَعَلَيْكَ السَّلاَمُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ.
13.What has been narrated about one person responding on behalf of a group (Sunan Abi Dawud; Sahih # 5210)
📚When people are passing by, it is enough if one of them gives a salutation on their behalf, and that it is enough for those who are sitting if one of them replies.
14.Giving The Salam To A Gathering In Which Are Muslims And Non-Muslims (Tirmidhi; Sahih # 2702)
📚Narrated Usamah bin Zaid: that the Prophet (ﷺ) passed by a gathering in which the Muslims and the Jews were mixed, so he gave the Salam to them i.e. in respect to Muslims only.
15.What Has Been Related About It Being Disliked To Give The Salam To Non-Muslims (Tirmidhi; Sahih # 2700)
📚"Do not precede (initiate) the Jews and the Christians with the Salam. And if one of you meets them in the path, then force them to its narrow portion."
16.When People of book (Ahle Kitaab) greet you (Riyad as-Salihin; Bukhari & Muslim # 867)
📚One should respond with: 'Wa 'alaikum' [The same on you]
