Avoid the great sins which you are forbidden to do, Allah shall expiate from you your (small) sins

Al Quran: Agar tum Un Bade bade Gunahon se bachoge jinse tumhe mana kiya gaya to hum tumhare (chote) gunaah maaf kar denge aur tumhe Ezzat ke Maqam mein dakhil karenge
Al Quran, Surah Nisa (4) Aayah 31

Hadith: Anas Radiallahu anhu se rivayat hai ki Rasool-Allah Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam se badey (kabira )gunahon ke baare mein pucha gaya to Aap Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya 
ALLAH ke saath kisi ko Sharik karna, Waaldein ki nafarmani karna, Kisi ki (nahaq) jaan lena , aur Jhooti gawahi dena (ye sab kabira gunah hain)
Sahih Bukhari,  Vol 4,2653

अल क़ुरान: अगर तुम उन बड़े बड़े गुनाहों से बचोगे जिनसे तुम्हे मना किया गया है तो हम तुम्हारे (छोटे) गुनाह माफ़ कर देंगे और तुम्हे इज्ज़त के मक़ाम में दाखिल करेंगे
सुरह निसा (4) आयत 31

हदीस: अनस रदी अल्लाहु  अन्हु से रिवायत है की रसूल-अल्लाह सलअल्लाहू अलैही वसल्लम से बड़े (कबीरा )गुनाहों के बारे में पूछा गया तो आप सलअल्लाहू अलैही वसल्लम ने फरमाया  अल्लाह के साथ किसी को शरीक करना,  मां बाप की नाफ़रमानी करना,  किसी की (नाहक़) जान लेना और झूठी गवाही देना. (ये सब कबीरा गुनाह हैं)

Hadith: Narrated Anas Radiallahu anhu : The Prophet Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam was asked about the great sins He Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam said, "
1.They areTo join others in worship with ALLAH,
2.To be undutiful to one's parents.
3.To kill a person
4.and to give a false witness. (these are the great sins)
